Candoo How To Add/Remove apps on the Dock on Apple computers
On Apple computers, the Dock is a key navigation tool to easily access apps and features. Similar to a desk or workspace, it is important to keep the Dock filled with apps that are frequently used and not cluttered with apps that are rarely used.
This guide will show the steps on how to remove and add app icons to the Dock on an Apple computer.
Please Note: the screens below are from an Apple computer running macOS BigSur 11. There may be slight variances for computers running a different macOS.
How To Remove App Icons from the Dock
Step 1
Move your mouse cursor/ arrow
over the app icon that you want to be removed from the Dock.
Step 2
Right-click, or tap two fingers on your touchpad, on the app icon. Hover the mouse cursor/arrow over Options, and then select Remove from Dock. The app icon will no longer remain in the dock.
Please note: you may need to completely close or quit the app if it is currently open for it to no longer appear on the dock. The app icon will only appear when it is opened again and will disappear when closed.
How To add App Icons to the Dock
Step 1
Right-click, or tap two fingers on your touchpad, on the app icon that you would like to keep in the dock. Hover the mouse cursor/arrow over Options, and then select Keep in Dock. The app icon will now have a dedicated spot on the Dock even when it is not open.
Step 2
If the app that you would like to keep in the Dock is not open or visible, simply select and open Launch Pad to view all the apps that are installed on the computer.
Locate the app, and click on it to open it. Once it is visible in the Dock, perform the steps in Step 1 above.
