How to use the Camera

Step 1

To Turn on your Camera, tap on the app icon highlighted on the screen below.

Step 2

To take a photo, point the camera at your subject. Press the shutter button (highlighted below on the left screen) to take the photo.

To switch between the Front and Rear Camera, press the button above the shutter (highlighted below on the right screen). This will switch the direction of your camera. It will either face you or away from you.

   

Step 3

To preview photos you have taken, press the square button located below the shutter button.

How to use the Photos App

Step 1

Tap on the Photos App icon from your home screen.

Step 2

Here’s the Photos App main screen. Small thumbnails of all the photos that are saved to your iPad will appear.

Step 3

At the top of the screen you will see controls that you can tap to view ‘All Photos’ or to filter photos taken from certain days, months, and years.

The side menu can be accessed by tapping on the upper left ‘Photos’ button .

The side menu allows you to see the different types of photos that are in the Photos App. This includes details such as imported or recently deleted photos/videos, different types of photos/videos, and albums that have been created.

Step 4

To better view a photo, simply tap on the thumbnail for it. A full screen view of the photo will appear. In this view you can also swipe over to the left or right to view the other photos that are in the Photos App.

 

How to Edit a Photo

Step 1

While viewing a photo in full screen, tap on ‘Edit’ in the upper right corner.

Step 2

In Edit mode, the various tools to adjust the photo are located on the left side.

The 4 tools above include (from top to bottom):

Changing the Key Photo- for Live Photos only.

Adjustments- exposure, brightness, contrast, etc.

Filters- preset exposures that alter a photo's appearance.

Crop & Rotation- ‘trimming’ photos and options to straighten.

Step 3

In this example, we have applied a filter called Noir to dramatically change the appearance of the photo. As indicated by the arrow in the screen below, there are many other filters that can be applied by scrolling down using your finger.

To save the changes to the photo, tap ‘Done’ in the upper right corner.

Step 4

If you would like to undo edits saved to a photo, return to the Edit mode (see Step 1 in this section), and tap on ‘Revert’ in the upper right hand corner. This will return the photo to its original state prior to any edits or adjustments done to it. 

How to Create an Album

Step 1

Tap on the ‘Share’ button at the top of the screen when viewing a photo in full screen mode.

Step 2

In the pop up window that appears, you can select other photos- by tapping on them in the top portion- that you also may want to include. Then tap on ‘Add to Album’ as indicated by the arrow in the below screen.

Step 3

Next, tap on ‘New Album’ on the top row.

Another screen will appear asking for you to provide a name for the album you are creating. Use the keyboard that will appear on the screen to type in a name. Tap on ‘Save’ to finish.

Step 4

To access the newly created album, tap on ‘Photos’ in the top right hand corner of the main Photos App screen to show the side menu.
